OUR TRAINING

The UBC places a top priority on developing the total professional: Carpenters and Millwrights who are not only technical experts in their craft but who also demonstrate effective communication and leadership qualities.

The Eastern District does not train members directly. However, we make sure each Council's training programs are up-to-date and line with the core curriculum established at the Carpenters International Training Center (CITC) in Las Vegas, NV.

Jobsite skills training programs including ICRA are taught at the regional level at each Council's training center. The UBC's Jobsite Leaders programs are developed and taught by our instructors in the Department of Education and Training (DET). Only the UBC provides its members and contractors with the best in skills and leadership training in the industry.

CARPENTERS INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CENTER (CITC)

Increasing the skills of our members and enabling them to do their very best work on the job is our top priority. We consider skill, safety, productivity, and attitude to be the keys to success for our members, our contractors, and our union. We are committed to providing the union and our signatory contractors a strong competitive advantage in the construction industry.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING (DET)

The UBC's Department of Education and Training (DET) develops educational programs that focus on building transformational leadership skills, communication and mentoring within our programs and aligning all training with the strategic priorities of Growth, Skill and Professionalism, and Organizational Effectiveness. Our industry is changing quickly and we must meet the demands of shifting cultural expectation. As more members become transformational leaders, they are transforming their jobsites, as well as their union halls, to a constructive culture. This change paves the way for future generations by adopting practices that will lead to 70 percent market share, greater productivity, and overall, a better way of life for our members and their families.
